Pink and brown baby shower ideas that rock!

When creating a girl baby shower, it is important to come up with the appropriate color scheme and pattern.

In this article we are going to talk about the pink and brown baby shower color pattern for girls and how to work it into your upcoming baby shower.

Usually, your theme guides you in how you choose your color template.

For example, if you’re going with a ladybug baby shower theme your color pattern would be red, black and white.

Or if for example, you’re going with a Winnie the Pooh theme then your color pattern would be honey yellow, red, brown and green.

Pink and brown baby shower rocks!

It’s pretty easy to determine your color pattern if you have a theme but what if you don’t want a theme but just the color scheme. Many modern baby shower hosts forgo the actual theme and just stick with the colors.

There is however, a very popular baby shower motif that incorporates the pink and brown color pattern, that of course is the monkey girl baby shower. More about that later….

Decorations using these color patterns

Decorating with pink & brown can be easy and fun. Not only that, but you can find cheap pink and brown decorations in a variety of shops and stores around your neighborhood.

First let’s talk about general party decoration goods that you can use. There are three items in particular that you can use to decorate your event room in broad strokes:

  • Pink and brown helium balloons
  • Pink and brown streamers
  • Pink and brown banners

Ideally you want to fill your house with helium balloons and streamers crisscrossing each other to create that P/B atmosphere.

You will also want two banners. One banner in the entrance over your guest table (this one should be pink) and another one over your main table where your food and centerpiece are (let’s make this one brown).

Your banners can say anything you want them to say like “welcome to Todd and Suzy’s baby shower” over your guest table or “Hey y’all, were having a baby!” over your main table. It’s up to you and your creativity ;-)

You can easily find pink banners and brown banners at Wal-Mart in the birthday section. If you can’t find them right away then I recommend you ask a Wal-Mart staff member to help you.

You might however have a hard time finding banners that are both pink and brown at your local stores.

Second we should get started on all the tables that you will be using in your baby shower. This includes your guest table and your main table which will have your food and your diaper cake centerpiece.

P/b baby shower table decor

There are many different things you can do with your table. You can use a pink tablecloth and decorate it with characters made of brown felt. Or vice-versa, use a brown tablecloth and decorate it with pink designs created from felt.

Don’t forget that you’ll have your food and your diaper cake centerpiece on your main table so you don’t have to overdo it with the table cloth decorations because it will all come together at the end. The same goes for your guest table.

It would also help the entirety of your decoration efforts if you could get pink & brown plastic tableware, cups and plates. You might be able to find them for cheap at your local stores or you can always find them online.

P/b diaper cakes

The diaper cake is the King, or should I say the Queen, of baby shower centerpieces!

The easiest kind of diaper cake to make by far is the three tier diaper roll cake. Below you will find an easy-to-follow diaper cake instructional video and a materials list to construct your very own pink and brown diaper cake. However, if for some reason you’re not up to the task, you can always purchase a premade diaper cake with your desired color pattern online.

You’ll need:

  • assorted rubber bands
  • sixty three diapers
  • scissors
  • paper towel tube
  • glue gun
  • 1 1/2 inch brown satin ribbon and pink wire-edged ribbon
  • pink and brown baby items for decoration (e.g. teddy bears, bibs etc…)

The First tier base consists of: ring 1 – 6 diapers, ring 2 – 12 diapers, ring 3 – 18 diapers.

The Second tier middle part consists of: ring 1 – 6 diapers, ring 2 – 12 diapers.

The Third tier or the top part consists of: ring – 6 diapers.

Here are some more diaper cake decoration tips for your pink and brown color scheme. You will first wrap the brown satin ribbon and attach it with a glue gun for each tier then you will wrap the pink wire-edged ribbon over the brown one. You will then, tie off the wire-edged pink ribbons into little bows and “puff” them out.

For each tier, you will insert two small baby items under the pink wire-edged bows. For example, you can insert a pink baby spoon and a brown baby spoon within the wire-edged pink ribbon bow.

At the top of your diaper cake you can add a cute little plush doll, like a pink or brown monkey or rabbit.

P/b food ideas

This is the fun and delicious part! Here are some great food ideas:

  • Cotton candy and brownies served side-by-side.
  • Beef bits with pickled beet slices held together with toothpicks served as hors d’oeuvres.
  • Cupcakes with pink-strawberry frosting on one side and chocolate frosting on the other
  • Cupcakes with pink-strawberry frosting and chocolate filling.
  • Chocolate covered strawberries.

Baby shower games – P/B Teams!

So here comes the big question “how can you incorporate colors into a baby shower game?”. The simple answer: TEAMS!

That’s right ladies and gentlemen! All you have to do is play those time-honored baby shower games but instead of each man and woman playing for him or herself they will work together in groups divided into pink and brown teams.

This is great because people have an automatic tendency to belong to something. If you’re in a team then there is more pressure on you to perform well. This creates both a lot of motivation and excitement. Here are some great baby shower games you can play that foster teamwork and your P/B color pattern:

Pink & brown favors

You can get beautiful favors online to suit any color palette or theme. That being said, you might want to make your own baby shower favors. The cutest and most affordable way that I can think of are cellophane bags.

  • Get cellophane bags from your local arts and crafts store.
  • While you’re there purchase some brown and pink decorating ribbons to tie off your bags with.
  • Then you can go to your local candy store or you can go to your local dollar store and buy pink and brown goods.

WARNING: do not mix these two. If you are going to add little brown candles and mini pink strawberry-scented soap bars to your favor bags then don’t add anything edible.

Likewise, if your cellophane favor bags are filled with pink taffy and chocolate then don’t add non-edible items. Your guests might be put off by this and it’s also a health hazard. So please don’t mix.

Invitations using pink and brown colors:

This is by far the easiest part to do but it could be the most tedious as well; depending on the number of guests you’re planning on inviting.

Remember to use dark pink or brown font when using your word processor program and don’t forget to buy brown or pink paper at your local arts and crafts store. You’ll see exactly what I mean after you read the post I provided.

Did I leave anything out?

There you have it! An exact tutorial on how to create a pink and brown baby shower. I believe everything was covered in the above article including pink and brown invitations, decorations, diaper cakes and everything else.

You have several options in front of you. You can create your very own P/B baby shower using the advice above for cheap or you can buy everything pre-made online. I find that many people do a little bit of both.

I’d like to hear from you. If you found this article to be useful and informative or if you’d like to share your opinions and thoughts about this baby shower color pattern then please leave your ideas in the comment section below. Thank you very much and have a nice day.

I have been working as a freelance graphic designer for many years. And in the design of countless projects for both print ads as well as web sites, I have studied, been inspired by and have conjured up quite a few color schemes.

But I have never tried using a combination of pink and brown. The closest combination of shades I have used are pink and black, but that along with orange and black schemes have strong contrast and may not be suitable for babies.

I just love that baby monkey she is so cute. I think that a pink and brown baby shower is very classy looking! And anything that goes with the nursery that is pink and brown can also be used as the child gets older. because the colors together can work for so many things.
